An Under the Sea First Birthday
Mint, peach, lilac and blush came together in a soft under the sea world for a first birthday celebration in New Jersey. Designed for 70 guests, the day was playful for the little ones and polished for the grown ups.
The Display
A world under the sea
Organic balloon garlands in mint, peach and lilac, a fishing net and clear bubble balloons framed a scalloped shell, a mermaid tail and seaweed cutouts. A shell name plaque and a neon number one set the stage for the cake, a watercolor blue layer with sugar coral, a mermaid tail and a mint number one.

Garden softness
Garden style bouquets of roses, wax flower and eucalyptus sat in simple glass vessels along the live edge tables, adding a natural softness to the room.
The Details
Made for little guests
We consulted on the menu, and private chef Deborah Jean served jollof arancini, adun meat pie, spicy Haitian stew chicken, epis marinated grilled prawns and 24 hour suya short rib. Each guest took home a jute tote with a wooden name tag, a plush doll and a book. The littlest guests had a soft pastel play area and a rocking dinosaur of their own.
Every detail was chosen to feel playful for the little ones and polished for the grown ups.
